Medieval Games

Video games with a medieval theme take you back in time to the world of castles, knights, and sword fights. Here you can count on beautiful sceneries, the in-game tasks prepared with the Middle Ages fans in mind, and lots of fun. This is what it is all about.

Victory? It is the sum of the strategy and tactics you employ when sending your troops to important battles or when you pursue another important goal.

Those who are interested in medieval games will not find skyscrapers, metropolitan landscapes, or machine guns. How about fantasy elements? More often than not medieval video games are off-limits to them, although certainly there will be exceptions.

The players will need to forget about magic and dragons. Instead, they will have to manage the kingdom, create fortresses and settlements, and build and strengthen them to achieve military or economic victory. Fans of medieval weapons can try their sword fighting skills in the shining armor of the knights. They can also hunt animals hidden in the forests, for which bows might prove to be useful. Medieval games offer beautiful landscapes of villages and settlements which belong to the kingdom, as well as gothic-style buildings.

In medieval games most of the time you go to battle in order to win and gain fame and honor. In Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, the assumption is to choose one of the sides of the conflict and fight the power of the enemy. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance, real Czech history is shown. The player’s attention needs to be focused on learning skills that will help them survive in the surrounding world. On the other hand, in Crusader Kings II you strive to develop our medieval kingdom, while in Mount & Blade: Warband you are a leader of a team of medieval mercenaries.

As you can see, each of these games is different, but they all have a medieval style: battles, knights, kings, or castles, which perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the era.
